New Encyclopedia of Texas

The New Encyclopedia of Texas, published by the Texas Development Bureau between 1927 and 1930, contains short biographies of people across the state. (I only have two volumes of this and am missing at least two others. I know there are at least a few names in those missing volumes. This list of "important persons" is very heavy with bankers and ranchers. I would guess every banker and rancher in the state in the 1920s is in this. And, I did see many racial or ethnic minority members in the volumes I have. By the way, this file is very large. DB)

There is a two-page description of Del Rio called History and Progress of Del Rio by E.K. Fawcett. Scattered pages include Del Rio and Val Verde personages. (Many of the pages have a fuzzy edge as a result of the thickness of the source books.) The names in the books are listed below; click on the link at the top to see the biographies. (It is a huge file.) Extra information can be found about some of the people on the list be clicking on the link.
